Sigourney Weaver says James Cameron didn’t win the Oscars because he “didn’t have breasts”

We’ve all seen “Avatar” at least a couple of times by now, or at least once. And if you haven’t been blinded by all the blue carpets, blue Na’vi, and aren’t sick of hearing the word “Avatar,” then you’ll still be interested in this story. Actress Sigourney Weaver, who played the part of Dr. Grace Augustine in “Avatar,” is speaking out against the Oscar voters and why she believes that James Cameron didn’t take home the Oscar for “Best Picture” at the 82nd Academy Awards. While, it was “The Hurt Locker’s” Kathryn Bigelow who took home the award for “Best Director” and “Best Film,” Sigourney thinks that obviously Cameron should have won.

According to the NY Post she stated to Folha Online, “Jim didn’t have breasts, and I think that was the reason. He should have taken home that Oscar.” She thinks that the Academy wanted to make history by crowning the first ever woman director and that in turn it blinded them from who really should have won.

She continued to say, “In the past, ‘Avatar’ would have won because they [Oscar voters] loved to hand out awards to big productions, like ‘Ben-Hur.’ Today it’s fashionable to give the Oscar to a small movie that nobody saw.” Anyone remember “Slumdog Millionaire?”

“Avatar” has gone on to create history making a record shattering $2.7 billion worldwide while “The Hurt Locker” only made $40 million worldwide.

Anderson Cooper giving 1st post-prison interview to Dr. Jack Kevorkian

Wasn’t Anderson Cooper just swimming with sharks last week on “60 Minutes”?

Now he’s doing something even more courageous: he’s interviewing Dr. Jack Kevorkian.

Dr. Death is giving Cooper his first post-prison interview this Friday. It’s not actually on CNN, but set for a lunch time live get together at CNN headquarters in New York.

The interview will be preceded by sandwiches and snacks, according to the invite, and a welcome from CNN’s prez, Jon Klein.

You have to give Cooper credit for doing this. His own brother, Carter, committed suicide at age 23 in July 1988. Anderson wrote about it in his blog back in 2005: http://www.cnn.com/2005/US/08/16/brother/

Talk about a charged meeting. Kevorkian has said he helped at least 130 people die of physician assisted suicide. He served 8 years of a 10 to 25 year prison sentence for second degree murder. He’ll turn 81 in May.

“American Idol’s” Kara DioGuardi goes nude for Allure Magazine

Kara DioGuardi has come on the music and tv scene since starting her role as a judge on the hit show “American Idol.” She is often found flirting with Simon Cowell, but she always comes across as a genuinely warm and heartfelt person who is always there to pick up the contestants after they often get slammed by Cowell. While she looks like the typical type who has everything, her own songs, records, and a gig on America’s popular show, there was a time in her life when things didn’t look so bright, and in fact very bleak.

In the new Allure magazine issue she appears naked from top to bottom. While this seems very surprising from the always cheery judge, she is aiming at an attempt to show the world the darker side of her. When she was in her 20’s she suffered from an eating disorder and now she is willing to bare it all to overcome it.

The Hollywood Gossip reports that the article says DioGuardi states, “This shoot was less about beauty than about taking a risk and showing people a side of me they never have seen. Back then I was a size 6 or 8; now I’m more like a size 2. Food is not what I use to anesthetize myself anymore.”

“Desperate Housewives’” stars back show producer

As we all know, last week Nicollette Sheridan filed a $20 million lawsuit against Marc Cherry the creator and producer of “Desperate Housewives,” accusing him of assault. Sheridan says that Cherry punched her in the head during production on the the series’ fifth season. He allegedly apologized but then arranged for her character, Edie Britt, to be killed off the show. Sheridan claims that she informed ABC about the whole mess, but producers and the network did nothing.

Now the other stars of the show, Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher and Eva Longoria have joined together in support of Marc. Their statement reads “It would be irresponsible of us to let the public believe that being a part of this show from its inception has been anything but a blessing. We have no first-hand knowledge of what Nicollette may or may not have experienced, but we would never characterize our set as a hostile environment.” Also, the statement addresses Nicollette’s mention of Teri Hatcher in her lawsuit “unfortunate and inappropriate.”

Oscar Jaenada lands coveted “Cantinflas” role

Oscar Jaenada (“Che”), who will soon be seen in the action thriller “The Losers” with Zoe Saldana and Chris Evans, has landed the role of Mario “Cantinflas” Moreno, Mexico’s most famous comedian, in a planned biopic, according to Showbiz Cafe.

The site says Jaenada beat out expected frontrunners John Leguizamo and Diego Luna for the chance to play Moreno, who was known as “the Charlie Chaplin of Mexico” and passed away in 1993.

Moreno enjoyed a long and successful film career during the 1930s, 40s, 50s, and 60s, appearing alongside David Niven in the Best Picture winner “Around the World in 80 Days.” He has a star on Hollywood Boulevard, scored two Golden Globe nominations (and won once in 1961), and earned the Mexican Academy of Film Lifetime Achievement Award.

But SBC notes that the decision to hire a Spanish actor to play one of Mexico’s “national treasures” could cause controversy, but goes on to call the casting of Jaenada “a good choice.”

Former NBC Chairman and President, Ben Silverman, will executive produce “Cantinflas.” Alejandro Monteverde will direct from his own screenplay. Producers reportedly want to get a 2011 release date to coincide with the 100th anniversary of Cantinflas’ birth.

Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Sting, Katy Perry to rock TODAY Show plaza

Some of rock, pop and country’s hottest acts are performing live this summer, and you won’t have to leave your living room to hear them.

The TODAY Show announced which musical acts will be performing as part of the “Toyota Concert Series on TODAY,” now in its 15th consecutive year. And the schedule is impressive. Sting launches the weekly series on May 14 with a 30 minute performance of his greatest hits. The appearance helps promote Sting’s upcoming concert with the Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, according to MSNBC.com.

But the music doesn’t stop there. Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber, Christina Aguilera, John Mayer, Carrie Underwood, Ke$ha and Katy Perry are the biggest names scheduled to perform. Keith Urban and Rascal Flatts shouldk satisfy the country crowd. Train and Maroon 5 will please the radio-friendly soft-rock audience. The winner and runner-up on this season of “American Idol” will perform on stage May 27.

“Ugly Betty” series finale Tonight. Goodbye America Ferrera

GOODBYE: As it winds down its four-year run tonight, Ugly Betty is as good as it ever was.
Last week featured the sweetest coming out ever on network prime time as Justin Suarez (Mark Indelicato) danced with his boyfriend at his mom’s wedding as his loving family looked on. The show has always been unapologetically gay as we’ve seen Betty’s fashion-loving nephew grow up before our eyes.

Then there was Marc St. James (Michael Urie) who was Wilhelmina’s scheming assistant who endured the rejection of his homophobic mother and in last week’s show, realized that he wanted to try and succeed in a romantic relationship.
